What does this mean for Mike Trout?

Yesterday Bryce Harper signed the largest contract in American Sports history, of $330 Million for 13 years with the Philadelphia Phillies. But what does this mean for Mike Trout?

Trout who is just one year older than Bryce Harper will hit Free Agency in 2 years and will most likely be the one to sign a larger contract than Harper. Trout and Harper have gone at it as the best young phenoms in baseball for the past 7-8 years. But it is obvious who the best player of the two is.

Trout has dominated the league ever since winning Rookie of the Year in 2012. He is a 7-time All-Star who has won the MVP twice. He has been ranked the Number 1 player in the MLB multiple years in a row by MLB Network and is entering this season with the same feat.

Trout who has 1,187 Hits, 240 Home Runs, and 648 RBIs in his career so far, which is better than any stat Bryce Harper has is expected to break the bank when he hits Free Agency.

No one knows what to expect contract wise for Mike Trout but at the least everyone knows it will be the biggest contract ever. He may not be the flashiest player in the league but his skills are ridiculous and he will be worth every penny.

It is rumored that the Angels may even attempt to sign him to a Lifetime deal. I do not know any specifications on how that will work but I will not be shocked if that will happen.

When asked about his free agency in 2 years Trout did not want to comment. The two teams speculated to possibly sign Trout to this legendary contract are either the team he is on now the Angels or his childhood favorite team the Phillies.

Obviously in 2 years more teams will try and pursue this once in a lifetime talent, but for now, we can only speculate what will come. If Trout stays healthy he will be the biggest Free Agent to ever hit the market outside of maybe Alex Rodriguez.

With Bryce Harper absolutely breaking the bank this offseason it is expected that in 2 years Mike Trout will be bringing in upper $300 Million to even maybe $400 Million when he signs. Trout's undeniably the best player in baseball right now and if a guy like Bryce Harper signed a contract for $330 Million it would ridiculous if Trout does not break that.

As an Angels fan, I am hoping Trout will be an Angel for his entire career. It would be sad to see him leave after doing so much for the organization, but at the end of the day, the organization has not done much for him. He has been to the playoffs once but did not win one game.

The next couple of years will be telling for Trout and if he will ever be able to win a ring in his career. The Angels this year may not be the best team but they will be competing for a wild card spot if they can stay healthy.
