Rest In Peace Tyler Skaggs

Image
By Colin Dixon, July 1st Picture Via @Angels Twitter On Monday, July 1st the Baseball world was shaken by the news that Angels Starting Pitcher Tyler Skaggs had passed away at the age of 27. Skaggs and the Angels had just traveled from Los Angeles to Arlington, Texas to start a four-game series on Monday against the Rangers.  This morning at the Angels team hotel Skaggs was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. With this tragic event taking place the game between the Angels and Rangers was canceled and will be scheduled later in the future.  Only 10 years ago the Angels lost another young Starting Pitcher by the name of Nick Adenhart who was killed in a car crash at the beginning of the 2009 season.  10 years ago when Adenhart was killed I was only 8 years old and about to turn 9. I was saddened to hear what happened to the young pitcher Adenhart but I did not truly understand what I understand now. Skaggs death hit closer to home...

USWNT Wage Gap

Image
By Colin Dixon May 30th, 2019 With the Women's World Cup coming up soon the hype surrounding the USA Women's National team is growing. But what is not being talked about is the wage gap between the men and women's teams in America. The men's team makes remarkably more than the women's team does and it needs to be fixed. After winning the World Cup in 2015 the women from the US are looking to repeat in 2019 with the star-studded roster that includes Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, and Megan Rapinoe to name a few. In contrast, the men did not even qualify for the 2018 World Cup after being defeated in qualifiers. Statistically, the women make a quarter of what the men make. This wage gap is ridiculous to start with but the women's team has actually proven something on the world stage compared to the men who are just a laughing stock within the sport. As the women look to bring another World Cup trophy back home, it is time that United States Soccer starts to p...

Tempers Flare In Royals vs White Sox Game: Brings Up A New Debate

Image
By Colin Dixon April 18th, 2019 Picture Via @MLB Twitter In the Fourth Inning of yesterdays Royals vs White Sox game, Tim Anderson hit an absolute bomb of a home run and his bat flip led to the benches clearing later in the Sixth inning when he came back to the plate. Here was a frame by frame of the bat flip which was used from the Chicago White Sox Twitter. Anderson's bat flip blew up all over social media with people praising his use of emotion but his opponents were not a fan of the bat flip. Later in the game when Anderson stepped up to the plate to lead of the Sixth Inning, Royals Pitcher Brad Keller drilled him with a fastball in the first pitch of the at-bat. Anderson looked visibly mad so Royals Catcher Martin Maldonado got in his way and tried to prevent him from starting any sort of brawl. As soon as that happened the benches were cleared and the teams exchanged some words but nothing between any players. But both Managers got into it as they were ...
