Angels Finally Make Moves During Offseason

Image
By Colin Dixon December 22nd, 2018 Picture Via @Angels Twitter After wasting another year with the best player in baseball on the roster the Los Angeles Angels have made some moves to hopefully make a playoff push. The Angels went 80-82 last year with an injury flooded season and need to act fast if they are going to keep Mike Trout on their roster after 2020. Trout will become a free agent after the 2020 season and the Angels have only taken him to the playoffs once and they did not win a game. If the Angels are going to keep Trout on their roster they need success and they need it soon. Last years Coach Mike Scioscia stepped down and now Brad Ausmus has taken over for the Halos and he has a ton of holes he will have to fill before the season begins. Last year the Angels patched up their pitching rotation by adding Japanese sensation Shohei Ohtani but after just one year in the majors, Ohtani had to get Tommy John Surgery. Angels General Manager Billy Eppler was tasked with

NFL Game Picks Week 15

Image
By Colin Dixon December 15th, 2018 Picture Via @NFL Twitter After normally making our game picks on our podcast Max, Tyler, and I are doing something different this week without a podcast. This week we are doing our picks via the blog. Chargers vs Chiefs  This past Thursday started off Week 15 with a bang, when the Chiefs and the Chargers battled it all the way down to the final seconds of the fourth quarter. The Chiefs started the game up 14-0 but the Chargers managed to come back and win the game 29-28. With only four seconds left the Chargers scored and decided to go for two and got it. With the win, the Chargers tied the Chiefs for the top spot in the AFC. Without their top Running Back in Melvin Gordon the Chargers have kept rolling and will look to keep rolling into Week 16 next week. The Chiefs, on the other hand, will still hold the top spot in the playoffs if both teams win out and the Chargers will have to settle for a wild-card spot. Texans vs Jets This game is

Back To Back NFC West Champs

Image
By Colin Dixon December 3rd, 2018 Picture Via @RamsNFL Twitter On Sunday, December 2nd, the Los Angeles Rams clinched their second NFC West Division Title in the last two years by defeating the Detroit Lions in their 12th game of the year. So far the Rams are 11-1 and have won three games in a row since their only loss to the New Orleans Saints. Right now the Rams are sitting in the 1st spot in the NFC Playoff Standings and if they win out for the rest of the season they will clinch home field advantage throughout the whole entire playoffs. Their next four games are against the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, and the San Francisco 49ers. If the Rams can beat the Bears this upcoming Sunday they will clinch a first-round bye in the upcoming playoffs. The Rams have been riding one of the most high powered offenses the NFL has ever seen, with the second most yards per game and the second most points per game in the league. Quarterback Jared Goff is 4th in the

College Football Playoff Final 4 Announced

Image
By Colin Dixon December 2nd, 2018 Pictures Via @espn Twitter The 2018 College Football regular season has come to an end and now it is onto the postseason. On Sunday, December 2nd the official College Football Playoff bracket was finally announced and Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma were the four schools who were selected to play in the playoff. The College Football Playoff started in 2014 when the NCAA decided to change the National Championship format from the top two teams playing in a championship to the top 4 teams playing in a mini bracket with two semi-final games and one championship game.  As it has been in every year of the playoff the committee had to make tough decisions on who truly were the top four teams in the country. Going into Sunday the committee had to decide between three teams for the final spot in the playoff.  Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame all went undefeated in 2018 and were undoubtedly going to be put in the playoff by the committ

Conference Championship Weekend

Image
By Colin Dixon November 27th, 2018 Picture Via @ClemsonFB Twitter This coming Saturday, December 1st, all 10 Division 1 NCAA Football conferences will be hosting their Conference Championships. 4 of the 5 Power 5 championships will have playoff implications on the line and that means this weekend is going to be exciting. To start, we will look at the only Power 5 conference championship that will not have any playoff implications at all. This game is Utah vs Washington and it will be played at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Ca. Earlier this year these teams faced off and the Washington Huskies came out as the winners. On Saturday the Huskies are 5 point favorites and will look to keep rolling after their big win in the Apple Cup last weekend. Washington has a solid defense and more experience in big games, so I am taking the Huskies to be the Pac 12 Champions. Score Prediction: Washington 31- Utah 17 Next is the ACC Championship with the Clemson Tigers squaring off versus the Pi

Kyler vs Tua: Heisman Race

Image
By Colin Dixon November 26, 2018 Picture via @OU_Football Twitter All of 2018 there has been a major debate on who will win the 2018 Heisman Trophy. For a majority of the year many people have been saying that Alabama Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa would run away with the award but recently Kyler Murray has cemented his name into the conversation and he should definitely be considered as the winner. Based off stats Kyler Murray should actually win the award. Tagovailoa has a lot of hype around his name but Murray has the head to head over Tagovailoa in almost every category. Murray has 37 touchdown passes this year with 3674 passing yards and has a completion percentage of 70.6%. Tagovailoa, on the other hand, has a near 36 passing touchdowns, 3189 passing yards, and his completion percentage is 70.3%. These statistics are virtually the same but Murray still has the edge on every stat. Both quarterbacks are going into their conference championships this coming Saturday and they wil

The Blue Devils Jump Into The Number 1 Ranking

Image
By Colin Dixon November 13th, 2018  Picture Via @DukeMBB Twitter Coming into the 2018-2019 basketball season the Duke Blue Devils were all the hype. They were bringing in the number 1 recruiting class from the class of 2018 with the number 1,2, and 3 players in the nation.  Those 3 players were Rj Barrett, Zion Williamson, and Cam Reddish and all three of them have made a tremendous impact so far this season. Along with those top 3 recruits, the Blue Devils brought in another freshman phenom in Tre Jones who is playing point guard this year for the Devils.  Coach K has always had good teams and has won multiple championships but this could be his best team ever. Although this team is filled with multiple one and done guys, all of America will be watching to see if the Blue Devils hype is real.  So far this year Duke is 2-0 with a big win over then #2 Kentucky 118-84 and another big win vs Army 94-72. The Blue Devils started this year at #4 but leaped all the way into the

End of The Season Awards

Image
By Colin Dixon November 6th, 2018 Picture Via @MLB Twitter As of yesterday October 5th, the finalist for all of the major awards was announced for the MLB. We will find out who wins Rookie of the Year on November 12th, Manager of the Year on November 13th, Cy Young on November 14th, and the MVPs on November 15th. For the Rookie of the year in the American League, the finalist was announced as Yankees 3rd Baseman Miguel Andujar, Angels Pitcher/DH Shohei Ohtani, and Yankees 2nd baseman Gleyber Torres. On the other side in the National League, the finalist was Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña, Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, and Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler. In the American league, I think it will come down to Miguel Andujar and Shohei Ohtani but I think Ohtani will win the award. Andujar may have had better-hitting stats than Ohtani but what helps Ohtani's case is that he also pitched in 10 games during the season. He finished with a 4-2 record with a 3.31 era along with a .28

Can Anybody Beat Alabama?

Image
By Colin Dixon November 5th, 2018 Picture Via @alabamaftbl Twitter Well, the answer is yes but by a long shot. The Alabama football team proved on Saturday, November 3rd, who they really were after facing then #3 LSU and blowing them out 29-0. The Alabama offense has been nearly unstoppable scoring on average 51.3 points per game. On top of that their defense is only giving up 14.1 points per game. The Crimson Tide defense had their first shutout of the year against the number 3 team in the nation on this past Saturday. The LSU Tigers were going to be Alabamas first true test of the year and Alabama passed that test with ease. But is there anybody who can truly test Alabama? Well, I am predicting that the Top 4 teams after the CFB rankings come out on Tuesday will be... #1 Alabama, #2 Clemson, #3 Notre Dame, #4 Michigan Out of those 4 teams, I think that only Clemson and Michigan have the slightest shot of knocking off the Crimson Tide. Clemson who is led by freshman Quarte

Rams vs Saints Preview

Image
By Colin Dixon October 30th, 2018 Picture Via @Rams Twitter This coming Sunday, November 4th, the Los Angeles Rams will be traveling to New Orleans to face off against the Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Super Dome. Both teams are riding hot streaks of 8 wins in a row for the Rams and 6 wins in a row for the Saints. The Rams are 8-0 at their halfway point of the season and look to stay undefeated after this Sunday. But the Saints are 6-1 and have not lost a game since Week 1. Although the Rams are still undefeated the Saints are favored to win by 1.5 points. Both high-powered offenses of the Rams and Saints have been almost unstoppable all year. Both teams are averaging just around 33 points per game. These offenses are led by their dominant running backs and dynamic quarterbacks. Rams quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for 2,425 yards on the year with 17 touchdowns. Along with the 17 touchdowns, Goff has only thrown 5 interceptions. On the other side Saints quarterback Drew Brees

The Team of the 21st Century

Image
By Colin Dixon October 29th, 2018 Picture Via @mlb twitter Late Sunday night, October 28th the Boston Red Sox were crowned the 2018 Major League Baseball Champions. After beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 with a 5-1 victory the Red Sox brought their 9th total World Series title back to Boston. Among those 9 titles, the Red Sox won 4 of them in the 21st Century. Now, where does the Red Sox postseason success stack up amongst other teams in the 21st century? Boston Red Sox: 4 World Series Titles 2004, 2007, 2013, 2018 San Fransisco Giants: 3 World Series Titles 2010, 2012, 2014 New York Yankees: 2 World Series Titles 2000, 2009 St. Louis Cardinals: 2 World Series Titles 2006, 2011 All of these teams mentioned made it to the World Series 4 times since the year 2000. The only team to win a ring all four years was the Boston Red Sox. Before the 2018 World Series, it was up for debate, between the Red Sox and the Giants on who was the better team in this century. Now tha

What is Going on With the Raiders?

Image
By Colin Dixon October 23rd, 2018 Picture Via @ardenkey Twitter As of yesterday October 22nd, the Raiders have traded away another fan favorite in Amari Cooper (ESPN). Cooper has been struggling of late with only 22 catches all year and only 1 touchdown. Cooper was traded to the Dallas Cowboys who will look to utilize him as their number 1 wide receiver. Along with the news of Cooper being traded away the Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch was placed on injured reserve. Lynch is out on a groin injury that will have him out until December 24th at the earliest (Bleacher Report). The Raiders organization is falling apart right in front of their face. For the Raiders the move to Las Vegas seems like it cannot come soon enough. The fans are angry and the players are unhappy with where their organization is going. Where do all the fingers point? Right at Jon Gruden who has done nothing but move this organization in the wrong direction since being hired. With two main parts of the of

Who Will Win The World Series?

Image
By Colin Dixon October 22nd, 2018 Picture Via @mlb Twitter On Tuesday October 23rd the 2018 World Series will begin with the Los Angeles Dodgers playing against the Boston Red Sox. The series will begin at Fenway park and the starting matchup is going to be Chris Sale vs. an undecided pitcher for the Dodgers. I think the Red Sox are going to win the series in an easy 5 games. Here's why, the Red Sox had the most dominant offense all year and that offense has stayed hot through the playoffs. The offensive outburst by the Red Sox in the ALCS was led Jackie Bradley Jr. who hit 2 home runs and had 9 RBIs. Along with that Rafael Devers only had 13 at bats in the series but had 6 rbis and 5 hits. Along with the dominant offense the Red Sox have a dominant pitching staff and tremendous bullpen. The Red Sox offense was led by the 2 MVP candidates all year, Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez and will look for them to keep leading this powerhouse offense into the World Series. Not only

Is Odell Beckham Jr. a Problem?

Image
By Colin Dixon October 16th, 2018 Picture Via @obj Twitter Recently the New York Giants owner John Mara was interviewed and he told NFL.com's Judy Batista that he "Wishes he would make his headlines on the field instead of off." (Regarding Odell Beckham Jr.) Beckham Jr. stormed back into headlines after leaving the field early before the first half was over and not being back on the sideline to start the second half in the Giants 34-13 loss to the Eagles on last Thursday Night. Pat Shurmur the Giants Head Coach  said that Beckham Jr. was getting an IV because he was dehydrated. Dehydration was not Beckham Jr.'s only problem on Thursday Night, his offense was held to 13 points and Eli Manning is still struggling to find Beckham Jr. the ball in big play situations. Beckham Jr. has 45 receptions in 6 games this year with 1 touchdown. Last year where Beckham Jr. missed the majority of the season only had 25 receptions and 3 touchdowns. Beckham Jr. may be on pace

NLCS and ALCS Review Going into Game 3

Image
By Colin Dixon October 15, 2018 Picture Via @redturn2 Twitter After Sunday nights game between the Astros and the Red Sox both the ALCS and NLCS are entering game 3 of their respective series.  The Milwaukee Brewers won game 1 of the NLCS and The Los Angeles Dodgers snagged game 2 to tie up the series.  Tonight Jhoulys Chacin and Walker Buehler toe the rubber to try to take the the lead in the NLCS.  If needed Josh Hader will be ready to go for game 3 as the the leader of the Brewers bullpen. Hader was much needed in game 2 as the Brewers bullpen crumbled under pressure allowing the Dodgers to even up the series. Justin Turner surged the Dodgers into the lead, blasting a home run in the top of the 8th inning after going 0-5 with 4 strikeouts in game 1.  Now the series shifts to sunny California and the Dodgers have all the momentum and look to take advantage of the next 3 games they have on their home field.  Shifting to the ALCS the series is heading to Houston for g
